The category of tense is an universal verbal category, that reflects the objective category of time that exist in language. Thus we can speak about 3 tenses in english: Past, Future, Present. There is one more tense called Future-in-the-Past that is stopped when Future is looked upon not the 0 point(Present) but from the point of view in some moment in the past.
Progressive verb denotes an action of process at the present moment or at definite moment in the past or future. It used in Present, Future and Past continuous. But some verbs don't used in this tense. For example: verbs denoting sense perception( see, hear), mental activity( know, believe), wish( want, wish), feeling( love, hate, like).
