Affixation is the formation of new words by adding a derivational affix to a derivational base. Affixation is represented by prefixation and suffixation. According to their productivity affixes are classified into productive and non-productive, according to their origin - into native and borrowed. Words that are made of elements derived from two or more foreign languages are called hybrids.
