The Present Continuous is formed by means of the auxiliary verb to be in the Present Indefinite and the Present Participle of the main verb.
In the interrogative form the auxiliary verb is placed before the subject. In the negative form the negative particle not is placed after the auxiliary verb.
The Present Continuous is used:
- To express an action going on at the present moment, at the time of speaking;
- To express an action in its progress going on at the present period of time not necessarily at the time of speaking;
- To express a continuous action going on at the same time with another action reffering to the present time;
- To express a planned future action mostly with verbs denoting motion.
The combination of the Present Continuous of the verb to go with the infinitive of another verb expresses an action which will take place in the near future, an intention to perform an action or something which will inevitably happen.
